Integrating facility layout design and aisle structure in manufacturing systems: Formulation and exact solution

In manufacturing systems, aisles are paths which used for the movement of workers, transportation devices, and materials. The aisle structure contributes to layout efficiency by reducing material handling costs, mean flow time amount space needed, providing smooth transportation. Therefore, achieve a good layout, it is essential determine position facilities such as machines workstations, but also corresponding structure. this article, we analyze requirements design an efficient propose formulation problem mixed-integer linear programming model. This allows unequal-area be simultaneously optimized. optimizing structure, issues number, position, width aisles, entrance exit doors, how connect them studied. By number proposed approach towards traffic. A branch-and-cut algorithm, improved adding optimality cuts branching node strategies, solve problem. Finally, set computational experiments performed show effectiveness approach.
